02. Speech Highlights
From Emotion to Production: Kansei Engineering in Modern Manufacturing
Dr. Yopa Eka Prawatya, Associate Professor, Department of Industrial Engineering, from Universitas Tanjungpura noted manufacturing is evolving toward a human-centered approach where emotional experience is key. He introduced Kansei Engineering as a method that translates customer feelings into tangible design elements like color and material through structured analysis. Connecting to Industry 4.0, he highlighted how AI, eye tracking, and digital twins simulate emotional responses. Despite challenges, future products will be more personalized and adaptive to human emotions.
Small Tea Growers’ Movement in Assam
Dr. Gautam Kumar Saikia, Professor, Department of Tea Husbandry and Technology, from Assam Agricultural University defined small tea growers as farmers with up to 10.12 hectares. They produce green leaves for processing without heavy machinery. The sector contributes 25% of India’s tea production, creating jobs, supporting rural youth, and increasing women’s participation. Scientific practices also offer environmental benefits. Since 1991, the university has run an advisory program. Future strategies include strengthening farmer groups, improving marketing, and adopting climate-resilient practices.
